The Victron Orion-Tr Smart 12/12-30A (360W) Isolated DC-DC charger is only recommended for a few specific situations:
1. You already have a dedicated Victron 30A or 50A solar controller.
2. You are wanting to maximise charging efficiency to an aux battery in the rear of a 4x4 or in a caravan/ camper trailer that does NOT have solar.
3. You have or are planning to have more than 300AH of lithium batteries and want to dedicate solar and alternator charging on separate devices.
Once you go above 300AH of lithium batteries, its important that you maximise charging from all 3 sources: 240v, solar and alternator 12v. All DCDC chargers that have solar and alternator inputs will choose one input or the other up to the units maximum amp rating. So this can be a weak point for a large array of lithium batteries, because as you are driving, all of your solar is cut out and alternator 12v is prioritized, or vice versa.
We recommend buying our Victron 30A or 50A solar controller with this unit if you meet the above criteria.
You may also want to consider our Enerdrive 40A DCDC charger that does both alternator plus solar input up to 40Amps.

The Orion DC-DC charger is used in dual battery systems and is suitable for charging both lead acid and lithium batteries in high temperatures [upto 55° C with full rated output upto 40° C]
Designed to be used as a power supply or a battery charger, the Orion charger, with adaptive three stage charging will safeguard the long-term health of your batteries while delivering a controlled charge that ensures a 100% charge is reached.
The Victron Orion charger is ‘Smart Alternator Compatible’ and in addition can be set to supply power only when the engine is running, thanks to the unique inbuilt engine shutdown detection feature.

THREE STAGE CHARGING Stage One – Bulk or Boost – As much current as possible is delivered in order to rapidly recharge the batteries to about 80%. Stage Two – Absorption – When the battery reaches its final charging voltage, known as its absorption voltage the charge allows the current to taper off as the battery nears a full charge. Stage Three – Float – At this stage float voltage is applied which is enough to retain a full charge but controlled to prevent overcharging. |

You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).
If you need to return an item, simply login to your account, view the order using the "Complete Orders" link under the My Account menu and click the Return Item(s) button. We'll notify you via e-mail of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item.
Shipping
We can ship to virtually any address in the world. Note that there are restrictions on some products, and some products cannot be shipped to international destinations.
